Biocatalysis is nowadays a complimentary tool for chemistry in many operations of transformation of raw material in order to obtain valuable products in several industries such as health, agro-food and environment. This increasing impact is linked not only to a better control of micro-environmental conditions for enzymatic catalysts (high pressure conditions, organic solvents, supercritical fluids) but also to the improvement of their natural properties (stability, selectivity) via rational engineering and/or combinatorial engineering. All these skills are included in the different research teams of the “Biocatalysis” group.
